He did his MBBS from Bangalore medical college in 1979. He did his DOMS from JJM Medical College Davanagere in 1982. He started his ophthalmology practice in a small clinic in the eighties. He had a great vision to grow, foresight to anticipate future needs and enthusiasm to develop. The hospital was shifted to the current building in October 1987.
Once only an eye clinic became a specialty eye hospital and started growing year by year. To meet the growing demand for quality eye care, modern sophisticated equipments were acquired and many super speciality departments were opened. He is an accomplished cataract surgeon. He is the Medical Director of Shankar’s Eye Hospital.
